Virginia Gay Hospital is celebrating their DAISY Nominees - First Annual! The DAISY Award is an international recognition program started in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Pat’s family experienced first-hand the difference his nurses made in his care through clinical excellence and outstanding compassionate care. The family created The DAISY Award to express gratitude to nurses and to enable other patients, families, and staff to thank and honor their special nurses.

Help Reduce Overdose Risks: Dispose of old medications this Saturday, 10-2 pm
National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is Saturday, April 27, and the Iowa Department of Public Safety’s Office of Drug Control Policy (ODCP) encourages Iowans to clean out their medicine cabinets and safely dispose of unused and unneeded medications. Local law enforcement agencies and pharmacies are teaming up to collect leftover prescription and over-the-counter drugs for this special one-day event held each spring and fall.

Postpartum Medicaid extension, with cut in eligibility, heads to governor’s desk
BY: ROBIN OPSAHL The Iowa House approved a bill extending postpartum Medicaid coverage from 60 days to a year Wednesday, despite criticism from Democrats about increased income restrictions on eligible families.Senate File 2251, passed 70-25, extends postpartum Medicaid coverage for new mothers and infants through provisions made by a federal coronavirus pandemic emergency plan signed by President Joe Biden in 2021.
